Hey Bon - in that case just sprint about 5-10m with the bag then slam it on the floor. Not as good but it'll do.
This is what we do at the club as the owners would get upset if we went through the wall

Hmmm. I might sound foolish but i don't think i understand this drill fully, is there a video of it on the internet?? Hmm. Maybe if I read it a couple more times i will get it! My bag is 85 pounds but I can get it! I'm a strong man (gloat, gloat).

Nope - I haven't done a video of it. What exactly don't you understand?

Hi all,
A mate i used to train with used to do this sorta thing all the time, I think he did some form of ju-jutsu.
He had this dummy he'd made from an old pair of overalls he'd sewn up and stuffed with newspaper, rags and sand. He used to chuck it around like a rag doll.
Looks abit too much like hard work to me!

Hey Joe, what do know. Pain, thats the name of the game, bro.
Read through everybody's posts, and the drill sounds awesome. My house is clutter and I hang my bag outside under a tree. Probrably take it down today and try the drill. |

| I stood my bag standing (its to my stomach, I'm 5'7) and tackled it down, then imediately press one knee on it, the other sprawl to the side for leverage. Then I started punching straight down, while the other hand was palm-open pressing down on a imaginary opponent's face. After, about 10 punches, I took it by the hook-rings and dragged it and threw it down like you said. After 10 of that, I just try stood the bag up, because I wanted to see how quick quick I could tackle the bag down. I worked on speed and foot-work by circling it. I stood probrably 3 feet away from it, circle it, did some feints and imagine how a real opponent would act, and tackle it as fast as I could when I taught there could be an open. |
