We don't do it out of instinct. There are good reasons for girls to travel in packs. Why? 
The advantage to this strategy is a reduction in the number of bathroom trips. Someone who doesn't have to use the "potty" at the time will go anyway, saving another trip later. An entire group of girls can go to the bathroom at the same time and never spend a moment apart! Also, thinking back on my clubbing days, the bathroom is all the way across the dance floor. Sure, you're perfectly capable of going by yourself, but the chances of you getting out and finding your friends again are slim to none. And no one wants to be left to dance all alone. The obvious solution is .... take all of your friends with you!
