A shipping container is 5875x2305x2320mm. A box is 350x256x218mm. What is the maximum number of boxes that can fit in the container?
If anyone can work that out in the next 48hours I would appreciate it _________________ Keep Smiling! |

let me try it... its height, length and width, ok?
so u have to figure out how much boxes u can place on the top of each other.
5875 : 350 = 16,78.... which means u have 16 boxes.
u have to figure out how many u can place along the shorter side of the container:
2305 : 256 = 9,0039.... -> 9
same goes for the slightly longer side:
2320 : 218 = 10,64... -> 10
so i'd say the amount of boxes is 16x9x10=1440
kinda much, but i think it could be correct. just my thoughts though. |

"a fellow mathematician of yours gave it to him i suppose"
you mean a fellow mathematician of his?
I'm not a mathematician
However im good enough at maths (or bad enough ?) that I can't find any immediate fault in your logic Ice. |

i was talking about valithor, but yeah - "of his" it is!
i guess the trick here was that most people would have taken the volume of the container and divide it through the volume of one box, but that wouldnt be correct. |

Ok, with regards to the shipping question.. I have found a method to pack 1581 cartons in the container. I was wondering whether anyone could find a better method.
No, I don't work for a shipping company. Its a high-school maths problem.
