Hey guys, hope ur all well. I was at Karate about four weeks ago and we were doing line sparring. I went to do a front kick and this guy must have blocked it funny because he made my vien pop out. The injury is on the inside of leg in the soft bit at the side of my knee. It was weird to be honest, the pain was immense and the vien there just popped out (bit like a varicose vien). The bruise is huge and very tender. So i have had to stay out of karate unless i have been teaching. So my question is this:

Have any of u guys had a weird injury like this before? A nd any idea's how long it will take to heal? I did phone our nurse and she said it just sounds like a bruised vien and it would take a while/

Kez x

Vein's don't usually "bruise", they actually pop open and bleed into the tissue surrounding them causing a very painful hematoma that takes several days to weeks to heal depending on the size. Happens all the time to me.

Ahh right yes that makes sense cos it was bright red in the middle where the vien was and all black around it where my leg had bruised.

Thanks for that x

Just take it easy for a while. That , and ask the guy if he did that deliberatly, how he did it, and to teach so you can use it on the street.

Sounds like a rough go you've had here, Kez. Hopefully, it all heals up soon. You can still do some solo training, can't you?

It is good to see you back!

Cheers Brian...just got my internet back on. Yeah i can still do some light training and teaching but no sparring, can't risk getting it banged again. Like i say it was four weeks ago so i have seen some improvement, i just though it was a weird one, never had that happen before so thought i would mention it.
