there would never be a 'perfect' style... only perfect to the martial artist themselves.

I used to jump all over conversations and debates like this. Then I thought to myself and developed a theory. I don't believe it's possible for any particular style to be superior or inferior to another. And I don't believe it's possible to create the "perfect" martial art because the things that use martial arts (humans) physically, mentally, morally, everything are anything but perfect.
But I'll tell you what I believe we can do is research as many martial arts as possible and learn to incorperate what we can to make something worth while. But in the end, all factors included (all factors are extremly hard to list) it will end up just as good as anything else out there. |

I don't believe that there is a perfect style, but there is a basic formula of multiple styles that I think is ideal : One striking and one grappling. The styles in question depend on what works best for you.

Hello, Most of think the perfect styles is a combintions of different arts, exampe: Knowing boxing,judo,karate,BJJ,MMa and so on., a combinatons of all. Standup fighting skills ,takedowns, and ground skills.
NO one will be perfect and NO one art is perfect.... but what will work on the streets could be just a simple technique or combiination of them.
Most of the martial arts out there today can be more than enough to keep you out of trouble. Having a strong body and mind is just as important.
The most successful martial artist are those who NEVER gets into a fighting situtions on the streets. HUMBLENESS AND AWARENESS and never being in the wrong places and time.
Off course it is good to learn about takedowns and ground fighting as well as stand up fighting. Remember on the streets it is ANYTHING GOES...No rules...anyone can jump in and anyone can use any weapons on them or around them. NO time limits...it will be fast and furious....Are ready for this type of fighting? and can you go to the limits? .......Aloha |

in reality
even for those that claim they have the perfect style,
it's really the most "convinient style"
often times we ungreatfully take from what style that was easily accessibe from. even if you drove a long distance to your school, how do you know it's more "perfect" than some village style practiced in India or Africa?
obviously it would be foolish to trek that far anyway for the perfect style because it doesn't exist.
funny, for a brief moment that reminded me of "experts" that travel a long distance to do cryptozoology...

Yeah. This one would likely be the one that simply ends all physical conflict and allows us to utilize our minds to resolve dispute.
