|
|
| My sensei told me that I should wrap hockey tape near the end of my bokken so I can get a better grip so it does not fly out of my hands. I just got my bokken on the 25th of April. |

i think what he meant was just layer on the tape till u have a kind of jut around the bottom that your fingers will hook onto instead of sliding off... personally... and i just thought of this on the spot so ud be a first to try it....
try buying tennis raquet grip tape, and using that to wrap the handle of your bokken... it might work... it seems like a genius idea in my head right now _________________ Brown belt... win trophies... grade... lose trophies... so much fun |

Sounds like a good idea to me. The sword does no good if it flies out of your hand! _________________ Success is where preparation meets opportunity.

Start out with the tape at a slight angle,
\
wrap to one tape-width before you want it to end, and then start pulling the tape closer to strait across,
-
but the time you are finished with the next wrap around it, it should be pretty much strait across. _________________ You suck-train harder.......................Don't block with your face

One of the guys in my class wrapped his sai with raquetball tape. It works really great, not sticky at all. _________________ There's no place like 127.0.0.1 |

My sai were pre-wrapped and I put PVC tape on the ends of mine so the gripping doesn't fall off. |

If you can't find hockey tape, electrical tape is better than nothing. However, if you can find the hockey tape, you can either wrap it around the handle in a normal fashion, or you can use the method of tsukamaki. There are sites that will show you this better than I can explain it. _________________ "Nothing is ever truly broken, it only cannot do that which it was meant to do."
