I'm taking a gap year out before I go to university and i'm planning on going backpacking in thailand in november for 2 months. I'm gonna go see a few Muay Thai matches in Bangkok, their on every saturday and apparently the atmosphere at the bouts is amazing (much better than western boxing). Cant wait!
p.s I was thinking about doing muay thai training over there but I looked at the daily training regime and its unbelievable ie. running for miles and miles (yes running), lots of weight training, massive amounts of press-ups/skipping etc. etc. plus I dont actually do muay thai (I do kickboxing) maybe some other time!

yeah their training is crazy. im going to go to phuket on the first of april hopelly for 3 months and im going to stay at the gym and train 6 days a week. if you do decide to train make sure you go to a gym where the trainer speak propper english and have western facilities. www.rawaimuaythai.com is the gym i will be staying at. kickboxing is my main ma too but i think combining both is the best.

Yeah, but if he does decide to join, he might as well say bye-bye to his trip. Only thing he'll do is train. 'What did you see during your trip son?' Uh, a Muay Thai ring, boxing gloves, plenty of sweaty guys' I think it really depends on what kind of trip he wants.

Absolutely! If you do kickboxing and you're going to Thailand you gotta do some training! Dont worry they have some camps that cater for foriegn visiters with milder training schedules. The wmtc camp in Koh Samui had a wide variety of levels when I was there. From begginners through to pro. There are similar camps in Bankok and Phuket. Trust me you'll learn alot. Dont miss the opportunity.
