A tough, hard and strong karate and kickboxer against a normal kind of build kung fu man. Who do you think would prevail in a street fight.

I will expect to win is Karate. Karate is better than Kung-fu... Kung-fu is just posing all day, without doing nothing. Karate will win, no poses.

I think a lot of the kung fu stances look funny, but still they wouldn't have made it if they don't have any uses, right.. or they probably don't actually use those stances in a real fight.

There really isn't any way you can tell who'll win. Depends on the person... But I'd go for karate and the kickboxer since it's two against one. Two people have a better chance.

saying kung fu poses are just to hang around in all day isn't fair seeming as it's two against one yeah the karate and kickboxer would win but karate vs kung fu i'd say kung fu would win

In your given circumstance, the karateka or kickboxer would win - only since he is tough, hard, and strong, and the kung fu practicioner is of normal build. If both were strong, or both were normal build... that's another question..

The better conditioned fighter will win.

Which is better ?

Green apple or red apple ?

Preference, it comes down to the fighter, not the style. One time you wil see x beat y, then you will see y beat x.

I agree totaly with Bon. Most of it will come down to the fighter. Karate would prob. have the upper hand over Kung Fu for fighters of the same skill level in my opinion.

I think Kung fu is made to be quite a practical martial art with quick jabs and low kicks.

Take for example Jackie Chan. He does Kung fu but what you actually see him do on the movies is hapkido as it looks better, so everyone thinks he is doing Kung fu.

I just watched a clip of some wing chun. It looks like some kind of invicible martial art. It counted everything. Could it be stopped!

My opinion is that since most forms of karate are hard styles and most forms of kung fu involve more soft and circular motions, it would most probably depend on the fighter. Kung fu takes longer in order for someone to grasp the concepts but once he or she develops her skill enough they can use sensitivity training, distance control, and strategy to overcome their shortcomings may it be in size, speed, power, etc. Many people who are naturally big or muscular or have conditioned themselves to be physically and mentally tough would do well in karate but I kind of don't like the fact that much of the blocks are force on force. I don't care how good you are, you will never effectively use a karate block force on force against a 300 pound attacker if you are 100 pounds and they are attacking full energy.

I went from kung fu to taekwondo, and although all the more advanced techniques were just as if not more challenging, I felt that the ideology of taekwondo was way easier to adapt to. A lot of the hard styles aren't as tough or hard to learn as the soft ones IMHO. Anyone can punch or kick. Kung fu to me almost assumes that your punches and kicks are flawless and focuses more on applying the ideologies. Maybe this is probably one of the biggest flaws of teaching kung fu. Many students who study kung fu don't master the basics before trying to understand the more internal or application-based aspects. A kung fu fighter who fights like a kickboxer may throw out the same looking moves, but he is not doing kung fu. He is just kicking and punching). No offense to kickboxers, I'm merely saying that it is easy for many many kung fu practitioners these days to fight like kickboxers, and the fact is that kung fu is not kickboxing.
