I like to argue that floccinaucinihilipilification is the longest American English word.
Antidisestablishmentarianism being eliminated because it is British in origin, and all technical (medical, scientific, etc) and gibberish/fantasy words being out of bounds.

Phnewmonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoeconiosis is the longest word in the complete english dictionary... BUT it is a medical term for a disease that comes from inhaling certain fumes usually from coal mines.
