I heard somewhere that you shouldn't meditate before going to sleep, but I can't remember why.

| I meditated last night before I went to sleep, I was fine. Maybe its because normally, its consciousness to unconsciousness, and if you meditate then fall asleep its more a sort of medatitive state to unconsciousness? Dont see any harm in it personally, however. |

I think what we are thinking about at bedtime influences the quality of our sleep. Maybe meditating at bedtime produces a better mental state than just trying to sleep with the hodgepodge thoughts of the day going through our heads.

Just reading this thread puts me in a relaxed mood. I just came up with another question. Do you have anything that you use while you meditate? I.E. meditation balls? I light incense to calm myself.°°°°

if ever i am stressed out, worried about anything etc i will meditate anytime! I wont do it while other people are around as they dont understand what i am doing.
About the last question i use incence sticks also. I have meditation balls but i do not use them, they dont work for me. |

I also use incense. I think it helps set the mood.
Meditation balls - do you mean the bao ding balls? I find them useful but in a different sort of way - as a stress reducer.
You know Jack I was thinking about this thread and one of your comments. I can just see you dropping down into full lotus at school. I can also imagine how quiet it got.

Hehe Sai, I only did it once because the class was being incredibly annoying/noisy and wouldn't shut up, and it was the only way I could relax myself. And yes, it became very quiet... I then opened my eyes and smiled, and thanked them. |
