Actually, Taiji easily has the most practitioners of any Chinese art (unless China is teaching one as a school cirriculum these days; which it may be). I would actually argue that it most likely as more practitioners than the "world's most popular art", Tae Kwon Do. _________________ www.clearsilat.com |

Um, Wing Chun seems to be one of the most popular. I'd have to go with Tai Chi, though. If you count it as a style of Kung Fu, that is. _________________ <Currently out of practice> |

| Why wouldn't you count Taiji as a gung fu style? |

Perhaps because 90% of the time Tai-Chi is not taught in the context of, or for the purposes of combat. In many cases schools teaching Tai-Chi do not even teach the Push Hands aspect of the system. It is unfortunate but true that Tai-Chi was either intentionally or incidentally defanged over the years in China and elsewhere. Many Chinese I have spoken to directly have even denied (out of ignorance) that Tai-Chi was even intended to be used in combat, which is of course not so. _________________
