The org is for martial artists who train or teach mainly in non-commercial sites such as parks, backyards, and garages.
For now, the site just consists of the Yahoo! message board with its related features such as photo album, chat, message lists, and member lists, but I am working on its home site now, which will be up relatively soon.
The only thing anyone needs to join is a free Yahoo! ID.

Is it only open to MAists in the US or is it for anyone, regardless of location?

It is defenitely open to anyone, wherever they are based.
Please hop over and join up.
There are no fees to join, you just have to have a Yahoo! ID name.
I am about to have the patches available, but that is coming later on.

Yes.
Any type of non-commercial locatons, such as parks, garages, parking lots, and I guess drug stores........

To be honest, I just went to
www.proboards15.com
and opened a free account (just like opening an account to post here at this site) and named the categories that I wanted the site to have. It was all free, fast, and they do all of the hosting and work.
I bought the .org at godaddy.com for $9 per year. To buy a .com .org or .net it runs about $9 per year. To buy a .info is about $2 per year. At godaddy, they give you one free page of web space or let you redirect people who go to it (which is what I did).
