OK, here's a brief run down of state. Lost his first match, 10-1. He came back and pinned the next two kids, and so then the next match was to at least make the consolation semifinals, and stand on the podium. He was matched up with the same kid he wrestled and beat for third place at districts. In a nail biter of a match, he won 4-1, and guaranteed a spot on the podium! Next match, he got beat by tech fall by a really tall kid that was really good at running cradles. That put him in the 5th/6th place match, where he had to face the same kid he lost his first match to. This one ended in a loss, but the score was only 2-1, and not 10-1.

All that said, Kendall was 3-3 on the weekend, pinned two kids, and placed 6th! He did great, fought hard, and exceeded his goals for the season, and am always very proud of him!

Thank you, Bob! It was a great ride this season. We have the awards banquet for the club this weekend, too.

I saw this on FB, and commented as well. The boys have had a great season, and I still believe their continued success, however long that drive remains in them to continue to wrestle. After all, what I've seen, they've both got some serious mad skills on the mat, imho.

GO KENNETH AND KENDALL!!

Thank you, Bob.

Last weekend we had our club awards banquet, where the club recognizes several kids from each age bracket for various things, and also recognizes those who qualified for state, placed at state, and placed at national tournaments.

For the 10U kids, Kendall earned Wrestler of the Year honors, which I thought was really cool. He really busted his butt this year, especially on the state run, and was really proud of him.

At 6U, Kenneth took home our club's Ultimate Iron Man award. Me, Kendall, and the wife were all surprised when we heard his name called for that one! Even though he didn't have a great season record wise, he was recognized as being a good sport, always shaking hands with the other coaches and the refs, and, this was the big one, he was always smiling while he was out on the mat. He received a backpack with Ultimate Ironman on it, and we got his name put on it, too. Both boys received plaques, as well.

So, that wraps up another year of Wrestling. Kendall is still doing Freestyle/Greco practices, so he is still getting good work in, and hopefully adding some skills to his Folkstyle stand-up wrestling. I can't wait until next year!

I know the thread's been inactive for a little while now...

How long is the season? When does it start and end? What do your boys do in the off season?

I've lurked here quite a bit.

Glad to see you lurking, JR.

The season starts for us in late November or early December, and the State tournament takes place at the end of March. So we go at least 4 months, as far as competing goes. Kendall has also been practicing at the Greco/Freestyle club, but it has become sporadic right now. Lots of summer stuff going on.

After Wrestling season, both boys play baseball. Kendall is playing kid pitch for the second season, and Kenneth is in his second season of T-ball. After baseball, Kendall plays football. Kenneth also ran track. So they stay pretty active.

Kenneth and Kendall, JR 137, have some mad skills. They're progressing well, and this is to the credit of Brian and of course, their coach. I always look forward to when their season begins.

More video's for the next up and coming season, if possible; I love to watch them!!

GO KENNETH AND KENDALL!!
