You loan a buddy $500 for whatever reason. He flees, takes the money and runs. Now, those that believe in karma will undoubtedly say that he is getting some bad karma. Now, are you yourself experiencing the effects of your own bad karma or are undergoing the experience for a lesson that needed learning?
See, while I believe in karma I'm not quick to throw an experience to it. I believe that a person also willingly (superconsciously) undergoes an experience for the lesson that should come from it. |

Karma often relates to the idea what you sow in this life you reap in the next. As I understand it, it comes from the Hindu religion and its an idea I completely reject because of my own religion.

why worry about the next life when this one is now ..and hard enough...reap what you sow now..in the next minute..hour day...take in your life now..enjoy it...do what you can today to make it better for you and those that you love and care for.and for those things which you can do nothing about let god handle those....becuase once your gone..youre gone..your not coming back as a cat or a bird or as some multimillion dollar lotto winner..all that matters is the time you have now..and all that will remain when you leave will be in the memories of those you touched while here and what you have accopmplished. forget the regrets of the past...learn from the mistakes made and hold on to the good memories..dont worry too much about the future it will be here soon enough and may not be everything you had expected... but live each moment now...in the present..for tommorrow is promised to no one and can easily be taken away..but what you have done up to now can never be taken...and the love of your family and freinds..they keep echoing through time......whew that sound too serious from me ..since i usally avoid deep disscussions on philosophy..much more comfortable at telling jokes and pulling pranks..but just felt i needed to say those things

As this is not a forum for theology I dont think its the place to answer
albeit to say eternity is a long time

I personally do believe in Karma and re-incarnation. I cannot explain it, it is just there.
My favourite quote on Karma:
"My Karma ran over your Dogma!"

This has left me thinking for hours before. Ive been in a debate with myself over this for about 2 months. I partially believe in karma. Im not totally sure about it though. I believe in it until I remember the horrible luck I have when Im a really nice person. *shrugs* Maybe I just did something wrong in a past life. I believe in chi without a doubt though.

Karma isn't about a reason on how bad luck comes. It was a way of life. It was a set of rules to follow so that you will be a good person. The re-incarnation bit was a religious belief. I follow it for the reason that Ifeel they are good ideals to follow for a person.

I'd like to say that who knows whether or not there is such a thing as karma. But life is way to short to be wasting it wondering about this stuff. |
