I like the gold embroidery on my belt. I have seen the red, but didn't like it as much. The gold shows up nicely.

well, i'll continue under the assumption its belts we're speaking of here and say that i have gold on mine, and i like it. im not a fan of the red. but i have seen both silver and blue in other places and i have to say, i like how crisp and nice both colors look against the color black.

We have some experience in doing belt embroidery. For our customers, gold is by far the most popular color. Some prefer the orange-gold. Some prefer bright gold. I'd say red is the next most popular. Traditional Japanese styles almost always use orange-gold. Others vary a lot more.

Oh, since the OP mentioned Japan vs America vs Europe, our customers are from the USA with most in Southern California.

Some people use embroidery color to indicate rank. IIRC, one used white for shodan, silver for nidan, and gold for sandan and above.

We usually have gold. Used to have an orangy one but I much prefer the bright gold I have now, it shows up better. Most people I see here have gold. Silver looks good, wouldn't mind that instead, don't think its that common though. Red's ok too.
