For my part, I have 2 questions:
-For your Yellow Belt, is there a kumite test ?
-If so, what happen exactly in a kumite test ? Is that just a fight ? |

Berutoron, it depends on the style. I'll tell you about karate (Shotokan). In the lower grade test you are not suposed to free spar. The kumite you do is 5 step kumite (gohon kumite), at jodan (face) level and chudan (chest) level. It goes very simple. Block, block, block, block, block plus counter plus KIAI. Don't forget about kiai.
You are not supposed to be perfect Just be confident. Don't have the attitude of a lamb near sacrifice shrine ... Stand up straight and proud (not cheeky, just with dignity ).
It is important that you KNOW your tecniques and KATA. Try not to mess it up. If it happens, go as if nothing happened. Don't let a muscle on your face show you've made a mistake Sometimes it goes unnoticed and even if it is noticed, your attitude might have you pass the exam Sensei would ask you to repeat it and that's all.
Be confident, perform the techniques powerful and have faith in your knowledge. It will work out just fine. _________________ Martial Art Links - 1000+ MA links. Free and fast site indexing |
