The Yankees recently drafted Pat Venditte, a pitcher who throws with both arms. He had his professional debut on Thursday and it resulted in a little drama.

The New York Times has the story of what happened when a switch hitter came to the plate. The hitter kept switching sides, but Venditte switched along with him, of course.

In the end, Venditte struck out the hitter. SNY has a clip.

Should be an interesting pitcher to follow.

Wow! That has to be the coolest thing I have seen in baseball in quite a long time! I wonder how they will approach the rules to this situation.

So, does he switch often in-game, when lefties and righties bat accordingly? Imagine what that could do for a pitch count; he could just switch to the other arm, if it ever hits 100 pitches.

Very cool. I like his glove, too.

From what I understand, yes, it is normal for him to switch in game, based upon the match up (which side is the hitter's weaker side).

Here's another video about him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8U2xkHOTvvw
