Technique or strength?

Featured Replies

i've been wondering, if a black belt martial artist, say like jiu-jitsu

who isn't really strong, gets aproached by a big muscly guy.

who would u think would win? coz u might have all the skills,

but could it actually be effective on someone who is stronger than u?

Well, if the jiu-jitsu practioner has all the skills, then a big muscle guy with no martial art experience would have no chance. This is just where jiu-jitsu is designed for, to overcome strength by good technique. The only way the big guy could win is by pure luck. The jiu-jitsu practioner will have a hard time though.

That depends on how big and how much muscled the guy compared to the jiu-jitsu blackbelt is. A Goliath can have natural grappling or striking skills and if he is really too big and strong compared to the David jujitsu guy, learned skill without enough muscle or mass may not be sufficient for the little David to defeat the Goliath.

There simply are too many variables to affect the outcome of the fight, that it can go either way. I won't be willing to bet who will win in this hypothetical fight.

If I have apples, and you have oranges, who has more pieces of fruit?

That's basically what you are asking, both count, just depends on how big the differences in both are.

Strength is an undeniable factor .

Moon might shine upon the innocent and the guilty alike

the closer the two are in skill, the more that strength matters. If you have two evenly matched guys, the stronger one has more of an advantage. If you have a strong guy with no skill vs a weaker guy with a lot of skill, theoreitcally, he *should* be able to deal with the strength difference and still win.

You for sure do not want to exchange blows with a larger attacker, so grappling would be the better option. Technique has always proven itself over strength but this doesn't mean you won't both be taking a trip to the hospital.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward,

Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both,

For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, If I live I will kill you, If I die you are forgiven.

Such is the rule of HONOR!

technique creates strength
