I'm going to start classes with Lars Wallin from Sweden. MMA grappling...No Gi stuff. I took a introductory class and was really impressed with his attitude towards MA's and his technique is excellent. If anyone is interested and is in the LA area he's teaching at Pound for Pound Boxing in Los Angeles.
Go to Viking BJJ.com you can see some stuff, but the site's not up yet.
For Pound for Pound here's the link. http://www.lb4lbboxing.com/BIZyCart.ASP?ACTION=Home&CLIENT=LBFourLB&ACCOUNT=1729
If you need more info I'll do my best to get it for you. _________________ "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who

The pound for pound site didn't mention anything (that I could find) about grappling but it did have what seemed to be an excellent boxer for a coach. Are you doing boxing as well? I don't think they even have it on their site, but you can call them. This hot off the press. It's just starting up. _________________ "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who

That is an interesting site. I had never heard of it before, but I am not surprised to see it. It makes me think of the kind of stuff that the ARMA are doing, only the ARMA doesn't claim the modern, eclectic approach. It appears that this Viking system incorporates the old world weaponry, but I didn't notice anything on new world weaponry. _________________ Success is where preparation meets opportunity.

The author makes some good points and misses some points completely. Good points are that BJJ/MMA training should be for survival and self defense first and foremost. Being able to set traps and take advantage of the opponents mistakes are also extremely important.
The author makes some clear mistakes when he asserts that the positional strategy is not necessary. Rickson Gracie, arguably one of the greatest fighters of our time and Helio Gracie (creator of BJJ), are both known for saying, "position before submission." It is the positional heirarchy that keeps you safe on the street. I would bet that the author would much rather be on someone's back than have them in side control on him! _________________ "When you come to a fork in the road, take it."

Actually his philosophy about BJJ is that there is no bad position to be in. You should be comfortable and calm in any position and there are submission from all positions. I studied BJJ before this and if I had known what he's teaching me then, I'm pretty sure I would have been submitting purple belts. This stuff is awesome. _________________ "It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who
