Though I'm generally the person with the least kata learned in my dojo, I've been striving to add a few more (marked with "*") to my list lately.
taikyoku shodan* (lol, I've been training ten years and I just learned this one last month so as to assist in teaching it to a four-year-old)
heian shodan
heian nidan
heian sandan
heian yondan
heian godan
tekki shodan
tekki nidan
bassai dai
enpi
jion
kanku dai
kanku sho
wankan*
jiin*
sochin**
unsu**
bassai sho**
**ones that I'm still pretty terrible at =_=
I'm really liking wankan a lot though. It's very... concise. _________________ "My work itself is my best signature."

Since I last posted about a year ago, I've added three more kata (not counting the two I learned during my two week stint in the Taekwondo class. I think they were just short, numbered, repeating forms made up by the instructor). So now I know our versions of:
Fukugata Sho
Kyozai
Annaku
Seisan
Saifa
Seiunchin
Naihanchi
Wansu
Chinto |

To get my black belt in Shotokan Karate, I had to learn the following kata's forwards, backwards as well as bunkai (application):
Taikyoku Shodan
Heian Shodan
Heian Nidan
Heian Sandan
Heian Yondan
Heian Godan
Tekki Shodan
Bassai Dai
Kanku Dai
Ji'in
Jion
Jitte
Enpi
Wankan
However since I haven't practiced Shotokan karate since 2002 and since then moved on to Freestyle karate, now kickboxing... Actually doing them now is a different story... |

Taikyoku Kata Sandan
4 Ashihara Kata (All Renamed – from “XXXX” no kata sono Ichi/Ni)
Shoshin Sho kata,
Kihon Sho kata,
Kumite Sho kata and
Nage Sho kata
4 Traditional Kata
Naihanchi,
Chil Sung Ee Ro Hyung ( renamed - Shichi Hoshi Kata),
Bassai (Passai) and
Niseishi
5 Hybrid Goshin/Jissen Kata (formulated by myself from “XXXX” no kata sono Ichi/Ni/San/Yon)
Goshin Dai kata,
Kihon Dai kata,
Kumite Dai kata,
Nage Dai kata and
Jissen Dai kata
I used to practice
Pinan Shodan,
Pinan Nidan,
Pinan Sandan,
Pinan Yondan and

But I've not practiced them in over a year! _________________ "Challenge is a Dragon with a Gift in its mouth....Tame the Dragon and the Gift is Yours....." Noela Evans (author) |
