Don "the Dragon" Wilson movies... lol. As a matter of fact.. i think all movies starred by an "all Star" cast of retired kickboxers are bad. lol
So far the only American Kickboxer that looks cool in movies is Benny Urquidez. |
I agree with this. I have seen a couple of Don Wilson movies and the acting is awful. _________________ Walk away and your always a winner. www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk |

Yeah, but it is like watching a Segal movie....you don't watch it for the acting. _________________ Success is where preparation meets opportunity.

Yeah thats true Brian. Sometimes you can get a really cheesy MA film with rubbish acting, but the fight scenes can be brilliant.....Just like 'bullet proof monk'! _________________ Walk away and your always a winner. www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk |

My problem with the karatekid films:
Machio's character: trained non realistically with esoteric exercises with the only the testing shown as a few punches that were in no danger of hitting him, done singularly with no change in direction, angle or reach.
Cobra Kai; trained hard, fought hard, trained by fighting.
Who wins the silly point sparring match?
The ones who trained traditionally or the one who trained in a modern, non-realistic way?
It is my opinion that Karate Kid, the film, created mcdojos _________________ traditional chinese saying:

I have seen bits and pieces of this movie. It was an interesting idea. _________________ Success is where preparation meets opportunity.

There was a rash (& I mean that) of pro kickboxers in the 80's that made straight to video films that were awful. Not only Wilson, but Anthony "Amp" Elmore, Jerry Trimble, & even "Bad" Brad Hefton got his mug in at one that I saw.
Sad but true, I'm probably the only person (outside of their mommas) who watched em _________________ Being a good fighter is One thing. Being a good person is Everything. Kevin "Superkick" McClinton |

As Bushidoman and Shotokan-Kez mentioned, there are good MA films with good fighting but bad acting.
My example would be The Kumite. The Martial Arts is incredible, someone creates a mixed style of Thai Boxing, Hung-Gar, and Wing Chun kung fu, they enter a tournament, etc. but the cheesy love story ruins it, I bought it to watch some MA's...not romance. _________________ Forgive your enemies, but never forget their names. - JFK |
