hey
i started martial arts (primarily in stand up style as opposed to ground) anyway im a kickboxer now and i grapple alot as well. now we have all heard that classic saying about how all fights end up on the ground thats why certain arts that encorperate ground fighting were invented, however.........how come karate or taekwon-do (which i started in before kickboxing) only encorperate punches and high flashy kicks when all fights end up on the ground anyway?

If you know what you are doing..not all fights end up on the ground.

There are different styles of TKD that teaches techniques from the ground..as does Tang Soo Do..and Wing Chun.

Peace,
Tae

Karate doesn't include ground techniques because the art was designed to take down people who are face to face or on horseback. Karate was made in Okinawa because the Japanese who conquered them took away their rights to weapons. They created the unarmed combat method of Karate. Some of the kicks are good to disarm opponents and take them off horseback.

In my perfect world the fight ends with my opponent on the ground and when that happens the fight is over.

Sure alot of fights end up on the floor, but almost all fights start whilst standing...So if you can finish there, then there is no need to go to ground.

i find if the fight has no rules you can often use the kicks used in TKD to fight from the floor to the exposed legs of the attacker, a knee is a tempting target to a power kick at the same level. and very painful.
