I've studied this art for a little while myself. It is excellent for the spirit, although, I don't believe it to be of MUCH use in combat, except where muscle is pitted against muscle (which shouldn't happen, in my opinion).

I have used examples in my own power, and they have worked, much to my surprise...for example, the "unbendable arm". You use no muscle, yet your arm is unbendable. Also, the ring fingers...you touch your index finger and your thumb, and, without muscle, no one can pull them apart.

interesting stuff, even if it isn't useful.

I dunno. I still don't believe it exists. What people call "ki" is what I think is just proper body mechanics and leverage. That is my opinion.

Ki is a very strange thing, it can pop up anywhere. It is something that has sustained me for hours of tournament fighting. It can be channeled as an energy source for many things. One man who was an expert at Ki or Chi or whatever you call it, made the temperature at the surface of his hand go to 800 degrees celcius. It is amazing what Ki can do if you are taught to use it. If you don't believe in it, that is fine as well.

800C? C'mon now. You are really taking the Ki thing too far. 800C would make the skin ignite and anything else for that matter. So now you are gonna say that people will be able to throw fire-balls with Ki. How do you know it was 800C?

I saw it on TV. Even though I didn't exactly believe it myself when I saw it, I didn't dismiss it as illusion. It is people's belief and I believe in it myself, so I do not dismiss it.

Bruce Lee himself, was a firm believer in the power of Chi.

The "chi" powers I've seen have always been on TV. Why is that? Bruce Lee may have believed in "Chi" but he did not rely on any "chi" powers for the purposes of self-defense and training.

800Celsius is extremely hot, the hand would've been glowing red and anything within 10 ft would've ignited. You may be able to control your body, but a person cannot defy the laws of physics. I believe "chi" can make a person stronger (although it is more about belief than chi) and endure more, but Chi cannot defy physics.

What you saw on TV was an illusion. There is about as much Chi on there as David Copperfield has supernatural power. It's a trick, a sham, something to lure people into the "awesome power" of Karate.

You assume that I said it was from a Karate master. Why is that? He was actually a Gung Fu/ Kung Fu master.

Karate.. Kung Fu.. doesn't matter. There are people from both China and Japan claiming to be able to tap into a supernatural source of power... Ki or Chi. It doesn't matter, the point of my replies still apply.

I belive in that a person can make the temperature rise on the hand, as I have seen it myself, and one of the guys I train jiu-jitsu with touched his hand, and nearly got burnt as hot as it was.

He also made the temperature drop to I don't know how long below 0, but his hand was very cold.

I have also tried the unbendable arm, it's very weird. Now as I am only 15, I got a grown man to try to bend it, and he couldn't!

So yes, I belive in it.
