Thanks for all your replies! I didn't expect any at all...
I'm still looking around, trying to find a good local place in my town...
I've tried out a few different places, and I like too many of them. I think I might have to do them all!!! |

I teach a combination of Aikido & JuJitsu. Have studied various forms of traditional Aikido (Tomiki & Ueshiba), and WJJF & BJJA JuJitsu, as well as BJJ. I think some of the arguements here are valid, but are glossing over a major factor - time. Any art takes time to master. BJJ & the like are instant gratification arts, the rewards are fairly immediate. Aikido takes a lot longer to gain a realistic profficiency in, leading some to question its validaty. When "felt", Aikido DOES work in reality (it was my core arsenal when doing "door" work) and it most certainly does encompass effective ground and restraint work.

So does Aikido take longer to master than Jiu jitsu? |

I agree with H.
I think that allmost every martial art (not martial *sports*, like judo, tomiki aikido or kickboxing) can deal with an attacker when you have reached a high enough level. I study aikido, and it probably does take longer to master than jujitsu, because it uses less brutality and more sensitivity.

Aikido and Ju Jutsu. Sounds like Hapkido to me. Get the circular throws and locks. Get strikes and kicks. The way we train Hapkido, once you get the throw or takedown we takeit to the ground and try for a submission. Hapkido and BJJ blend quite well. Learning this way, you dont always have to go to the ground(multiple attackers) but are competent if you have to.

Kempo. but if i choose one of them. i'll go to Ju jitsu.. Aikido hands VS Ju jitsu. i think Ju jitsu will win.
