Rolling and diving without mats would not be my idea of a good time. I understand the idea behind doing it, but still, not fun.

Ukemi in Aikido or Judo done on concrete is not comfortable but neither is combat.

Done incorrectly on mats is more dangerous than done correctly on solid surfaces.

Those that can do safety rolls in all directions on concrete is a notch above the rest as martial artist in my books.
