Relax and enjoy yourself.

How did you go in the end?

Remember even if you lost you will learn from it.

For Kumite @ tournaments I always recommend to my students that you should not only just focus on attacking, but also have a good idea of defense and how to avoid their attacks.

Kata is always a hard one to be great at, even I am not great at it at tournaments. Because of all the nerves that can build up during it.

In most cases, in the beginner levels, activity and aggression go a long way. Many beginners will often just stand there. Be active. It definitely can not hurt.
