I wonder if I could do a Ram Muay in one of these competitions and win? Or maybe even shadow box. Hmmm.

I think you would have a fair chance, after all, it is the Kata your style teaches.

Nope, can't compete in those. I'm must wear a Gi, which we don't in Muay Thai. Plus " The contestants will be expected to perform both compulsory ("SHITEI") and free selection ("TOKUI") Kata during the competition. Kata will be in accordance with the schools of Karate-do recognised by the WKF based on the Goju, Shito, Shoto, and Wado systems. "
Muay Thai isn't in the list of approved Kata. This is strictly a Karate competition without room for other systems of martial arts. Oh well, they don't wanna play with other nationalities of martial arts, that's their choice.

True, and it also says that Kata is not a dance and it must cohere with traditional values. I think your statement with not dealing with other nationalities makes sense. Do you know why the only do Karate? Because WKF stands for World Karate Federation. It is all Karate, not any other styles.

Oh, and the Ram Muay is soaked in traditional values of Thailand. It is a very sophisticated dance and prayer.
Kata is a dance if you ask me, it's a set pattern of movements, isn't that what dance is?

Not exactly. Kata is a set of pre arranged fighting techniques. They were made from real life situations where people faught. I don't know anything about Muay Thai so I'll take your word for it.

Ken-
So in Muay Thai Mike Tyson could compete in the heavyweight division and kill every Muay Thai fighter there? Alright, I'll let him know.
They want to see whose KARATE is best, if someone wants to compete in an open kata, they can go to tournaments like the Battle Of Atlanta, etc.
I personally have never competed in kata. I have always competed in full contact standup (I have fought Muay Thai fighters, one of my losses comes from a TKO AND Referee stoppage from a roundhouse to my ribs and a follow up cross to my face.)
I think kata is ok for those who are interested in the tradition, etc.

well, there isn't many Thai-boxers in the same weight category as Mike Tyson. And Mike probably would fair pretty well, if he learned how to defend against kicks, knees and elbows. Then again, Mike is such a dirty fighter (in boxing), he might already know that .

Since the majority of Thai Boxers are very lean and lack bulk, they would be easy for Mike Tyson to knock out. I think it would depend what distance they start out at. If they start at kicking distance I can imagine someone like Peter Aerts knocking him out with a head kick.
If they start out close, I think Tyson could consecutively knock out half a dozen people in one night.
