History:

I used to practice a mix of Shorin Ryu, Goju Ryu, and Shotokan. I really loved it.

After an injury, moving, getting married and having a kid, I find myself in my mid-30's and about 50 pounds heavier than I was when I last practiced martial arts.

I just found a Judo school near me, and I was thinking about joining.

How is Judo on an overweight beginner (as I feel like I'm completely starting over)?

Here's the school's website: http://www.smma.net/

Any and all help is appreciated.

It says its jujitsu school:)

About weight, I think it might help a little, as its harder to move heavier objects.
I did some jujutsu in middle school, and as I have been the lightes but the tallest I was easy to throw or get me off balance.
Even now in karate, I have long reach ( im 189cm[6'2]) but if someone catches my leg or gets close they can easyli put me down ( i weight only 66kg[145lb])

So I think your weight would not be a problem, and after a little work out you will lose a little of it.

So good luck in your new school

I think the fencing would be a good time.

As for your weight, if you get to training, some should come off, and you'll learn to work with it. Good luck!
