Or is it just a exaggerated right cross? I am ducking under it so wouldn't that make it and overhand? Or does it need to have a more loopy trajectory for that?

Looked like a straight punch to me, no matter what your body's doing.

Yeah, I think you're right. The term makes it sound as if body placement defines the technique, but it's apparently the trajectory of the punch more than whether it's "over anything"]
