This is not for tournament or anything, I actually need it for a costume. I know nothing about Martial Arts uniforms because in my class we wear street clothing. Anyway, I have looked all over online and at the local shops for brown or gray gi's with absolutely no luck. I understand most schools use only white and black uniforms, but I was almost sure other colors existed.

Any help would be appreciated.

If I were you I'd pick up the cheapest white gi I could find and throw it in the tub with some dye. My friends used to dye their clothes all the time back when I was in high school, didn't look like there was anything to it.

That is an excellent idea. Procrastination has gotten the best of me again, and I have to have this ready by thursday. Fortunately there are plenty of spots to get a white gi by me. Now to see about gray (if it exists) dye, otherwise i'll go with brown. I am doing Rikimaru from Tenchu.

Thank you!

Pick up a Black Belt magazine and look at the ads. I am pretty sure someone advertises a line of gi's in there in a range of colors including brown. Or they used to.

Glad to help! Hope it turns out okay. If gray is preferable, seems like diluted black dye should do the trick? But I guess you don't have much time to experiment for the right shade! I'd wash it several times afterwards if you're planning to actually work out in it, to make sure you don't leave gray sweat puddles all over the floor
