You sound like you are in High School. For real, in whatever you do where there are girls and guys, some people will flirt- its a consequence of the age.

I date my boyfriend, and he is an instructor in one of my classes- a big no-no according to most people- but really you just have to make it work for you. If he is worth it and karate is worth it, you will. Good luck!

I met my husband at age 14 at my local karate school. I was already an instructor and he had just started. I had a problem similar to yours but I was concerned about dating a student. We finally hooked up when I was 16 and we were married at 19. My instructor was all for it considering she, her husband, and their 5 kids all work out together. Her most famous saying is a family that kicks together sticks together. From my personal experience relationships are the same way. Good Luck.

I met my wife at TKD; I was a 1st dan at the time, and she was a green belt when we started dating.

I say, go for it. Just keep it professional in the class setting.

Yeah, like everyone else has said, just keep it professional and the PDA to a minimum. My instructor's wife is one of the students and you wouldn't even know they were married, let alone "involved" with each other at all, if you stepped into class.

Dunno about the girls, but for me, there's nothing sexier than a chick in a Karate uniform!!!!

Seriously though, as long as it doesn't affect your training, I don't think it should be a problem.

There shouldn't be a problem with the fact that you two are dating, but I am concerned that you are flirting and losing concentration during classes. This would be looked upon in our dojo as being very disrespectful to the person teaching and to the others who are witness to it. Be mature in class and take your classes responsibly. You are setting the example of students lower ranked than you. Have your flirting and fun time outside of the dojo.
I totally agree with jaymac
