In karate class, we use the traditional wooden nunchucks, octagon shaped. These are really special, however, they are handmade and the ends are not the same size. The end that is attacked to the cord, is smaller than the handle end. The shape looks like an upside down "v". The swing is smooth. The handle thats flying doesn't wobble as I bring it around to catch. Do you know of this type of nunchucks?

I've never seen a nunchuck like that, but then again we aren't even allowed to use wooden ones in my tae kwon do dojang until black belt(I have foam covered ones). I have a question, though - wouldn't these kind of tapered nunchaku give you a hard time when spinning them over your hands?

Many quality nunchaku have a taper to them. Mine do too. With the kikon-bu (lower area of handle) being larger, and thus heavier, it makes the swing more powerfull.
