Standup grappling yes, ground grappling no.

Shimabuku was videotaped using grappling techniques in 1966 so trying to say there are none is silly.

But it is primarily a striking art.

lol, you mean there was apoitn in which this was a mature adult conversation.?

actually the only thing that is juvinille is the gracie's arogance which is ruining the martial arts community as a whole.

Is there a link were i could see shimabuku's grappling style? im sure i will learn it at the dojo eventually, but im pretty early in for that now.

It's really not that impressive, just a few techniques. Couple escapes, wrist locks, arm bars and a throw, nothing you wouldn't see on a basic jujitsu video.

He went throw the 14 kata then had a "Kumite" section where he did some applications hand, bo & tonfa.

Isshin ryu, as taught by Shimabuku, was primarily a striking art according to everything I've gotten from anyone who trained with him.

yea, i dont know about part of that though. ive watched some of the isshinryu siginiture kata that higher belts perform in my dojo, the throws look pretty impressive to me. But im thinking if i could edited this stuff a bit and take the basic principles and skew them around, then i could give isshinryu at least, if nothing else, a fighting chance on the ground. of course, the object of isshinryu ground fighting would be to do whatever it takes to get your opponet off your back and get back in a standing position, were we are most comfroble. Hey, if nothing else, doing this and showing it works might someday get me a judan (which to recive one must have furthered the style in some way)

which G.I's did you know how trained under Shimabuku, or did you know some okiawains or perhaps (but unlikely) Japanese soilders?
