Anyone have any good washing tips on how to keep your smelly, sweaty Karate gi looking bright and clean, like new?

I heard using OxyClean washing liquid with regular detergent is good.

Regularly washing it like any other item of clothing has always worked for me.

Wash it after every use. This still hasn't worked for me though.

For stains/dirt/sweat my mum always put detergent directly on it before putting it in the machine. Also if you're not going to wash it straight away soak it in water until you do rather than leave it festering at the bottom of a washing pile.

Used to use Vanish oxyaction (think it probably has a different name in the States) and that worked really well on the whit bits... just used to fade all the embroidery to grey.

I had mine in the closet for years. I soaked it in oxyclean and detergent and after 4 washes, it got clean.
