The less one has contact with one's instructor, the more one should train at home.

The trick to practising alone is to focus on improving what is already learned and review whatever was done at the last session with the instructor. Making a schedule also helps structure solo training. Writing it down in a planner or calendar is also very helpful.

Loren Christensen has put out some nice books on solo training:

Solo Training: http://www.amazon.com/Solo-Training-Martial-Artists-Guide/dp/1880336596/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8
Solo Training 2: http://www.amazon.com/Solo-Training-Building-Effective-Grappling/dp/188033688X/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8
The Way Alone: http://www.amazon.com/Way-Alone-Your-Excellence-Martial-ebook/dp/B009GIVPM4/ref=la_B000APSJ1M_1_36?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1431515949&sr=1-36

I have all three, and they are pretty good resources.

Thanks, Bob. I probably even have a review of each of those titles posted somewhere...

Record on video what you are doing alone, show it to your Sensei for pointers and suggestions to improve upone, train, enjoy, improve, repeat.

I think you should concentrate on the basics. Even simple moving forward and back in any stance would be great.
At home you could also do a lot of cardio training. It would allow you to stay more focused in practice with your teacher.
As for bag training do some single punches or kicks but from diffrent angles and distance.
