This is a Karate Dojo not a knitting class. If she doesn't want to get hit, she should go to the latter not the former.

I am of the opinion that she is here to learn (among other things) how to defend herself. If you as her partner are unwilling to hit her, then you do her a disservice. Of course, I'm not advocating all out wailing on your partner, but I treat all of my sparring/practice partners the same. It doesn't matter if they're old/young/male/female, (or here near Boulder, CO, have a non-binary gender). Strike at a level that challenges your partner (or for me, just flat out try to hit them), and let the partner practice defending herself.
