TKD claims some 30 million members I believe... Karate organizations claim the same number if not more...

I personally think that they just say that in order to appeal to people. "We have the most members in the world! join us!"

Which Martial Art actually does have the most active members? Official / Unofficial

To be honest, I don't care. I've found what works for me, even if there's only two of us doing it.

Hi all

I dont know which MA has the most members, but I do know one with a very small amount.

Matayoshi Okinawan Kobudo has just over 350 members worldwide. It is headed by Shihan Mikio Nishiuchi. Oh yeah, and I hold a 5th Kyu in this art ()

Just though some people might be interested to know

C ya

Tobias

I don't think anybody really knows, nor do I think it is really possible to find out with any degree of accuracy.
I've seen reports where tkd claims the throne with x million registered practitioners, and then another report where karate claims twice that amount.
But I'm sure there are millions of unregistered martial artists of all styles. There are over a billion Chinese for example, and I'm sure that not ever Chinese martial artist is registered with an organisation!
Whoever claims the throne is using it for some free and easy advertising, nothing more, just as tkd-McGee said.

I'd guess boxing or wrestling. TKD may have alot of members but for the most part it can't be considered a MARTIAL ART.
