I've given up on doing that... I'd rather look good than stuff around in fighting clothes... I don't really look for fights anymore, it's boring nowadays. I usually have my mobile phone in my left pocket of my jeans (which is all i ever wear) and my wallet in my right. I suppose my punching power isn't impeded - so i guess i'm alright, cos all i ever do is punch these days.

Hey Angus,
I'm suprised to hear you say that a side kick to the shin/knee is harder to pull off. Because I've always thought the opposite...
Wouldn't it be easier because:
1 - It's low, so that way you arent restrained by youre clothes or flexibilitiy.
2 - Closer, their legs are more accessable then the chest or stoumach
3- Balance, you retain more balance whilst performing the kick compared to any other. So youre less likely to be taken off youre feet.
That's my logic, just wondering what youre views are. |

True. But you loose a split second to rotate your hip over.
I would rather use a stomping kick to the knee. You're able to execute it while still facing your opponent. |

I dont think that I would even try to use a high kick in a real fight, unless it was just a finishing blow. I do see the benefit of training high kicks though. I was always taught that if you can deliver a high kick with power ,speed and accuracy, that a low or mid high kick will be all the more effective. So as a training tool I like the high kicks. Also what was said earlier by Angus about the importance of footwork and staying light on your feet cant be impressed enough. Foot work is the foundation of every technique.

Look, if u try and deliver a side kick of any kind when a guy is close to you, and if he has any form of fighting experience, he will annihilate you with his hands. There's no point doing a sidekick to the shin cos it will put u off balance and in a bad position to be out boxed.
