Pride (the feeling)
This whole grading thing has become a thing of ego and and pride, people haveing to show one and other how good they are, despite what people may say it is basicly people showing off and the "respect" that is to shown to higher ranking students in some MA classes is taked to far. In my opinion respect should be shown to all students in class equally, someones ability in the MA class does not make them better or worse than anyone else, it is your whole life that makes you the person you are, not just how good you are in the dojo.

I can understand that pride is something within us all and in some ways I would like a grading system in thai boxing so I could feel like I am moving up and feel better about myself, but at the end of the day I know when I am doing good and the only reason I would want a belt is to let evry one else know.

I went back to my first Mauy thai class in years last week and all the students were great they were friendly and helpfull and trying to include me as much as posible, giving sparing tips etc.

I am not saying all clubs have the wrong atitude but definatly alot do.
