i really want to train here but i am already practicing Kenpo Karate and dont want to quit, and it will be hard enough to tell my current instructor (if i do go) my mom is asking me about this but im not sure i think i should wait what do yu think? i have such an ambition to be the best and at my current dojo i feel bored and ready to move on because this is how classes are, 1 day forms, 1 day techniques, one day sets and it repeats i feel extrememly bored but dont want to quit i, i feel that if i join this school the bordness will leave and ill begin to like it again

I am going to ask you some questions and come backwith the answers

If you don't want to quit your Kempo school, then don't. Its really that simple. If you like this other school, and want to give it a try, then do so. Who knows; you may not like it as much as you think you will. _________________ www.haysgym.com

Repetition is the mother of skill.

Repetition is v good but there comes a point when you have to try new things and do something different. Even if you're training the same techs. its good to take a fresh look at them. Don't stick with your Kempo school just out of loyalty either. If its not fulfilling your requirements it might be time to move on. Having said that though I wouldn't be too hasty to quit just because you're bored. Things may pick up a bit if you grade or something.
Maybe try a bit of both for awhile? _________________ "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it." ~ Confucius |

This thread is packed solid with great advice...
and i agree with ninjanurse a lot but i also see the wisdom of what DWx is saying....
And I can't see any harm in taking a free class to try the other school...
Almost all dojos will give at least one free class to potental students. My school will three free lessons for people to try and decide...
So maybe you can see if it all you really hope for or if it falls short of your expectations.
Also a a small slightly off topic note:
Under the curriculum section the left hand column is similar to the curriculum of my school... Those are some very good self defense arts to learn. I study Inayan Eskrima mostly, but all the FMAs on that list are all related somehow and I have a lot of respect for them. _________________ A warrior may choose pacifism, all others are condemned to it.

If you leave, leave on good terms with your instructor, he or she will want you to stay, but this is about your personal developement, also you could ask your instructor about any special class where you can mix this up alittle , one thing in life at this point you are a student, but you are also a customer. I believe your instructor will work something out for you that will benefit you and him and this is a good thing. |
