I agree, this is an excellent article and would be perfect for ANY style of martial arts school to hand out to prospective students.

I also have to put my 2 cents in here - martial arts is a great stress reliever. I notice the difference in how I feel when I can not train (regarding the stress factor). If your doctor approves, I highly recommend it - I believe it could even lower your blood pressure but since I'm not a doctor, I can't swear to that.

I think you're right about lowering blood pressure. But, if you do Sanchin and hold the tension in your face, your blood pressure will go way up and break vessels. But, not if done correctly I believe. Are there any medical doctors or nurses on here?

Great post encompasing a general effect of martial arts. Marital arts not only helped my attiude but also improved my stamina and my general health a great deal.

before I started training in Isshinryu Karate, I was like a turtle that would never come out of its shell, but now, I'm in the best shape of my life, and I have alot of self-esteem, and respect for others
