Sport is sport plain and simple. Never get sport confused with reality.

The truth of the matter is though whether it be the octagon or ring, those with fight experience will have a better chance in real life. While sport is different than reality, the body will react in a similar manner when in a fight. An experienced ring fighter will be able to handle the stress of a confrontational situation better than that of a non-competitor.

Sparring in class is one thing, fighting full contact in a competition is another, and fighting for real is another.

UFC is losing popularity....although it shows the "reality fighting" to a mass audience, people like TANK Abbott are ruining the UFC's already fragile reputation.
Theres no point to it anymore. I am not interested in spending $40 to watch a bunch of fat guys with no teeth and bad hygene roll around on the mat.

I'll stick to watching or training with the BJJ greats first hand.

Hasta!!

Slider, have you seen UFC or Pride lately?
The level of competition and conditioning are quite a bit higher than the old days.

One of the new complaints is that the competitors are so technically proficient that they are boring.

The reason we have rules, is to facilitate living to fight another day. If you want reality, join the police or military and work to be accepted into an elite tactical unit. Or walk around a depressed area with a one hundred dollar bill hanging out of your pocket.

Or do you just get a fiendish glee out of torturing judoka in particular?
