why do they put vaseline on the face in MMA? |

They do it in boxing as well. I was always told that it was to reduce friction from gloves sliding on the face, making it less likely for someone to get cut.

Its interesting I have always thought they should make gloves out of a material thats like balistic jelly but doesn't shear as easily. It would make cuts much less common and prevent fighters from head trauma. Of course the side effect would be knockouts would be much less common. I guess the sport would lose viewers.

It could be a cost thing, too.

If you're Georges St Pierre You put vaseline all over your body to slide out of holds. If your anyone else Wastelander was right.
