Strangely this idea of contract is new to me, no one uses contracts in Portugal, Europe. We just pay it every month and if we dont like we leave.
Most times people pay months but then just go like once a month till they give up.
I think the best idea is to go for discounts on semesters or quarters payments.
That contract mentality is just MCDojo mentality. |

For a while I was opposed to contracts in martial arts. I felt it was the first step to commercializing and selling out. But after seeing otherwise great schools with great instructors move from location to location, eventually closing their doors, I began to realize that contracts served a necessary purpose: if 25% of the students are paying for 100% of the students, the school won't be around long and that loyal 25% will lose valuable instruction. _________________ So Many Masters; So Few Students |

I don't like the idea of contracts but if you have to have a contract make it a short one. Either 3 months or 6 months. I know some schools that have them for a year to 4 years . I don't think anyone should have to sign a contract that lasts that long for karate. |

Have your billing done by automatic withdrawal , this keeps the money coming in. having some sign saying I will train for a year or even three months puts a bad vibe to the training. If the decide to lewave it is thier right and it will cause headaches you do not need. _________________ "If you don't want to get hit while sparring , join the cardio class" |

A good contract is one that you feel good about. If you don't...well?

I am in full agreement with everyone that thinks contracts suck. I shudder to think what the masters of old would think of our contracts. I have not and will not ever use a contract. There is more to being an instructor than money. _________________ "let those who shed blood with me be forever known as my brother." |

Ditto. Month to month is the only good contract I know of. |

A club near (East Yorkshire, England) us has a contract or a bank account contract, via a direct debt, possibly similar to gyms through out the world, (i dont know i have never been to a gym) and he charges so much per month, so much start up fee and then a lesson price on top of all that and licenses and equipment and then if you want to stop it costs to stop it as well.
i have known people forget about it and loss alot of money.
not a good idea a contract
sorry.
