I'm inquiring what fellow instructor's or student's class schedules look like for their schools. How many days a week does your school offer classes? What times? Any specialty classes?

Our school offers classes Monday through Thrusday for adults and kids. Right now, these classes are mixed, and run from 6:00 - 7:00 pm, but can run as late as 7:15.

We also have out Little Lions program, for kids 5ish - 8, and that is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15 - 5:45 pm.

We used to have a kicking class, but that has gone by the wayside, as has our black belt classes. Years ago, we ran Combat Hapkido as well, have not for many years now.

I'm curious to see what kind of schedules other schools run, and what kind of classes they offer.

Three days per week and weekends are semi-private. Every session is 2 hours. On weekends every one trains as a group for the first hour or so on whatever the instructor decides to focus on in particular. This is usually one or two specific kata and chosen content from these.

The second hour is free individual training. Everyone practises whatever they like and the instructor goes around giving tips and demonstrates finer points. During this time the instructor is also practising and everyone is expected to keep up.

The structure is very loose and informal in the traditional Okinawan style(sensei is Okinawan). This means no predetermined content so that on any given session the training will be different. There is a curriculum but order is not set in stone. For example beginners will eventually learn kihon kata, but some may start with kata 3 instead of 1.

Tuesdays and Thursdays. Arrive at 6pm to change and stretch out on our own. Class runs from 6:30pm-8:00pm. There are occasional Saturday classes, and sometimes the black belts all meet up for black belt training, but those aren't part of the schedule.

We just do Tuesday and Thursday.

Tuesday is kids' class from 6:30-7:30 and adult class 7:30-8:30.

Thursday is a mixed kid/adult class 6:30-7:30.

We used to have an adult class on Saturday mornings, as well, but no one ever showed up.

It'd be great to be able to split kids from adults in my school... not enough students, though. I frequently end up being paired off with a 10 year old green belt to train (he's the only other green belt who currently attends.) They to have us practice throws on each other... Incredibly difficult! He weighs like 70lb, and is about 4" tall. I'm 5'10" and 185lb.

I do like the fact we have a total of 2 hours per session in our school, though.

My instructor has a permanent venue so has classes 6 days out of 7 (Sunday's off). They split out the classes by "Warriors" which is under 7s, Beginner (up to 4th kup), Advanced (3rd kup upwards and blackbelts). Then they also run a junior sparring class and senior sparring class, and fitness classes aimed at the general public.
