I'm currently studying Goju Ryu karate do but my sensei is also very much qualified to teach ju jutsu. It's Hakkoryu ju jutsu if you know anything about it tell me. I'm trying to decide whether or not I should take it.

Yes, I'd definetely be in on that one.
Right now, I'm quitting kickboxing and taking up some form of grappling to get my grappling skills up to my striking skills.

Hi Joe
Hakkoryu is a fairly modern style by Japanese standards - dating back to the 1940's. It is, however, very "Classical" in it's approach - so expect a lot of, pre-arranged partner work, two-man Kata etc and no sparring. If this is what you want then go for it - enjoy!
For more info check out http://www.hakkoryu.com

GO for it..what have you got to lose and how much you can gain......AND Bon why not keep up the Kickboxing and also grappling..it would be a shame to let all your training go. |

My Sensei did ju jutsu prior to taking up karate (I couldn't tell you what style of ju jutsu it was). He's always incorporated techniques into our training, and I think they fit in beautifully...they greatly compliment each other and I would definitely recommend giving it a try |
