I think the originals were better. Now it is just starting to get to many rules. No longer pure no hold barred. It is now geared towards grapplers more. (Not totally but some effective strikes have been taken out.) Keith Hackney beating Yakil Yarhbourgh was a fun fight to watch. Yakil is like 500lbs and keith was like 200. Well anyway tell me which is your vote for the best UFC. Mine is 1 - 7.

I have only seen the first few, but I liked 8 the best.
probably because I have actually met Don Frye (and been to his house) |

i agree with you, the old ones were sweet, i was at 3 with keith hackney(friend of my instructor) too bad he messed his hand up, the old ones were good b/c there were no rules, or very little, now it is pretty lame, a bunch of kids, a bunch of rules, and weight classes.....not as entertaining, yet there is still tank abbott, but he was more enjoyable in the old days too _________________ That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger |

I've only seen UFC1 completely.. it was pretty good. Seeing Royce Gracie up against some pretty big opposition was impressive.
I also dislike the concept of adding in rules and weight-divisions.
One of my fav fights, though, was from another one.. I remember the commentators giving the standard pre-fight info and general excitment warmup.. only to have the fight last all of 10 sec.. thanks to a hook punch to the face.. _________________ Keep Smiling! |

Tank Abbott is pathetic! He has no MA skills whatsoever, he's just a big thug. I mean his style is a dead giveaway..."pitfighting"? What the hell is pitfighting? His so called style may as well be "street thug". LOL
I have seen most of the early UFC's and lots of the fights are excrutiatingly boring. There was this one fight between Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn where they just walked around in circles looking at each for nearly the entire fight, literally. They just tip-toed around the octagon like little girls, too afraid to commit to an attack. The whole time the ref John Macartney was trying to encourage them to get into it, but they just wouldn't. When they finally did make contact, Shamrock was just lying on top Severn for a while pinning him down, then vise versa. When the half hour (I think?) time limit was finally up, it was up to the 3 judges to decide a winner. Severn won but it was the most boring fight you will ever see. The best UFC was probably the one where this kickboxer (I think Pat Smith) fought Royce Gracie in the final and Graycie won. That one had a few good fights. |

Tank abbot is a cool guy. He knocks people out in his early days. I mean KO them from the universe. They didn't know what planet they were in. |
