I aslso wanted to ask if there n e deflecting type blocks in Aikido, against kicks and pucnhes, since you cant jhope to execute a technique every time the guy attacks right! , i haven't seen n e yet and would like to know if there were n e!

Hey Insanity. There is an old saying about Aikido and Aikijutsu.
"If your smiling during training your doing Aikido."
I would say that Aikijutsu is a little more complete on the offensive techniques. I really like the style, but I prefer Aikido. A great book is "The Hidden Roots of Aikido by Omiya". Lists the techniqes shows picture etc. Really nicely put together.
Aikido has few blocks, well oringal Aikido anyway. Aikido defence henges around movement more than static blocking techniques. But once you have good good ma-ai (true distancing), then they have you come to you. However there are some guys on www.aikiweb.com that can give you lots more information on that topic than me.
Insanity, just stick with your training and the answers will come. |

It's much more complete in terms of offensive techniques and certainly more vicious than Aikido. _________________ <Currently out of practice> |

Aikijujutsu was developed on and for war, it is classical bujutsu. It's techniques were honed on battlefields. Aikido was developed from Aikijujutsu techniques for a more peaceful purpose. Aikido's techniques have been honed for modern budo. |
