I don't take Wing Chun so I can't judge it. But to the Wing Chunners, what do you guys think?

Makes me to want to start Wing Chun.

I am pretty impressed, as long as those weren't choreographed and the attackers didn't attack slowly or go easy on him.

Cool clip. Looks like wing chun employs a lot of elbowing. I didn't like the music. Classical techno? Very offensive art. I like it.

Went training with my Ju Jitsu friend today, and with this video clip in mind I asked him to try and take me to the ground, to charge at me, or simply to kick and punch me. Was great fun employing some of what I saw to get inside his guard, pummel him with punches them quickly sweep or throw him to the floor andp pummle him some more!

(With semi-contact padded mitts, of course. )

Some very interesting concepts in Wing Chun which can be quite easily incorporated into other styles. Not the moves themselves, but a lot of the theory and concepts, like controlling the centreline.

"as long as those weren't choreographed and the attackers didn't attack slowly or go easy on him."

They were, they did.

I have the video that these clips were taken from - what you are watching is pre-arranged attacks by his own students to demonstrate the theoretical effectiveness of the art. He uses no techniques that I can see that would not be allowed in a mixed martial ats competition - let's see him do that against a Randy Couture or a Sakuraba. THEN I will be impressed.

The clip has a prearranged fight, of course. It doesn't reduce it's value by more than 20%, though.
Ironically, I find Wing Chun technique display there pretty bad. Try going to http://www.sifugrados.com and take a look at some of the free clips there. (btw, that is from the school I attend).
Tell me what you think.
Thx.

I'm taking a few a lessons in wing chun to see what it's like.. Looks pretty okay to me, I have a better idea of what it's about I think.
