Judo is good on the ground and standing up, although it has no striking ( My teacher teaches all black belts the true striking ) the flips and trips can be devastating on cement. I know people who have broken others ribs and arms when they threw them, it also teaches alot of arm bars and chokes which are effective to get someone to stop from attacking you. They can't do much with a broken wrist and a dangling arm to go with it.

What is "true striking" broomhilda?
And yes, throws can be devastating. Especially those where you land on your neck, can kill you. And I saw.. dont remember who it was, was on the UFC Hits vol1.. anyway, I saw this dude being picked up, thrown down so he passed out. Darn effective if you ask me.

If you could find a Judo school that also teaches traditional Jujutsu, then I have a feeling you will be very happy with the results.
I second that! That is where I’m training at now, it is great!
mY SCHOOL TEACHES GOJURYU, AKIJUJUTSU, AND JUDO. THEY ARE TAUGHT VERY TRADITIONALLY. I AM TAKING JUDO, AND I WANT TO START TAKING AIKIJUJUTSU (AIKIJIUJITSU) NEXT YEAR. WHAT DO YOU MEAN RESULTS????? DO THEY APPLY TO ME, TOO?

Um, Judokid... Relax! All Tibby was saying was that Judo and Jujitsu make a good mix; the "result" being that Superfighter will be able to enter the compititions he desires whilst still getting a well-rounded education in self-defence.

Nobody was attacking anybody, Judokid, please don't start.
